 Tech for All

Imagine a school where every student has a home computer. . . Now, imagine that it’s Goddard.

Do you have a used computer gathering dust? Goddard has a goal of making sure that every GMS student has a computer at home by the end of this year. Here’s how we hope it will work:

Someone (an individual or a local business) donates an old computer to Tech for All, a nonprofit organization located at 1709 South Acoma St (1 Block West of Broadway and 3 blocks North of Evans). Rose Keating, the director of Tech For All, and her volunteers, scrub the data off of old computers and then give those computers to families who do not have a computer.

Rose’s organization has recycled and donated over 700 computers to people in our community.

Wouldn’t it be great for GMS kids to benefit? Our hope is for the first group of GMS students to receive their computers early in January of 2007.

Tech for All needs our help. If you can provide anything on the list, please be sure to tell Rose that you want your donations to benefit “GMS Computers for All.” You can drop off Fridays between 9 and 3 p.m. and Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. without an appointment. Otherwise, please call Rose Keating to make an appointment to drop the computer off at her warehouse.

Requested items:

Computers that are between 0 and 5 years old – these are the easiest to turn over to students –

Pentium II or III or 4 is best.

Laptops Printers Cables Wires

Software Speakers

Do you have a

really old computer? You can bring it to Tech for All and they will recycle the parts. Please contact them directly.

  Update May 2007Minimize

Goddard has given away 78 computers to date through it’s partnership with “Tech for All,” a computer recycling  organization in Denver, Centura Health, and Executive  Recycling. At this point, we believe that we have taken care of all Goddard students we could find who needed a  computer. We also gave computers to students at Pathways,  the alternative LPS middle school.  If you know of a Goddard family that we did not reach  through this effort, please call our school social worker,  Mrs. Karen Fowler-Smith. Keep your eye on your August  registration packet, too, because we will  include a sign-up form  in that packet. A huge thanks to all of  the families in our community who donated  used computers  to this project, and to all of our community  partners..
