Assistant principals, counselors and the school psychologist comprise the Student Services Department at Goddard. A team problem-solving approach promotes student success by supporting the student's emotional, social, intellectual and physical development. Group and individual counseling focuses on academics, behavior, and personal issues. The counselors are also available for assistance with family issues, questions, crisis counseling, and referrals to outside agencies or to Goddard's Interagency Family Support Team.

New students are welcomed to Goddard by Student Services personnel where orientation, registration, and scheduling are completed. Standardized testing and student review processes are also part of the Student Services program.

If needed, administrators, student services personnel, teachers, and parents may develop a plan of action to meet the personal and educational needs of students. Evaluation of the plan is going with parents being an important part of the process.

There are two counselors in Student Services: Ms. Adams-Berger who works with all 6th graders and core 7-A and Mrs. Huston who works with core 7-B and all 8th graders.

The counselors are available to help with issues related to classes, peer conflicts, family communication, extra-curricular activities, locker problems and anything else that might be making school difficult.

In order to see a counselor, come to student services and fill out a green slip requesting that your counselor meet with you. Put the slip in the envelope with your counselor’s name and she will get to you as soon as is possible.

Parents can also contact counselors by phone or e-mail for questions regarding placement, classes, standardized testing, transitions into higher grades, or anything else that may be impacting a student’s optimal learning.
