Goddard is lucky to have an onsite challenge course. It is located on the southeast corner of our property and you can recognize it by the height of the telephone poles. This year, all of our students had the opportunity to get out on the course under the guidance of our course facilitators from Outer Edge Performance.
We plan to take all of our students out again this coming 2009-2010 year, and because this activity carries a cost to you, we want to explain how it works again.
How does it work and why do we pay for this activity?
Each year, the District signs a contract with a company who is responsible to run the course. The current course manager is Outer Edge Performance. They provide trained course leaders, they maintain the course, and they provide liability insurance. Outer Edge Performance is the only organization with the authority to use the course. This means that while the course sits on our property, it is not, technically, ours. We think that Outer Edge Performance has done a very, very good job working with students and we feel strongly that they put safety first. They provide enough trained facilitators so that students are in groups of seven to eight students. And they spend the entire day with our kids.
What will this mean for you?
When you receive your registration packet in August, you will see a Challenge Course Field Trip fee of $25. This is the true cost of taking a student on the course for the day. We want to continue this wonderful new tradition of “every student, every year.”
If you would like to sponsor a student on the challenge course, please contact our coordinator, Sam Adams-Berger at 303-347-7850.
