Builders Club is a community service club open to anyone who wants to participate. Students can join our group at any time, and there is no cost. We do activities that serve Goddard and the local community. For example, we do clean-ups of the GMS grounds, we are responsible for maintaining the Flag of the Week display in the cafeteria, we sponsor an annual canned food drive and assist the social worker at Goddard with holiday projects. Builder’s Club sponsored a week-long malaria awareness campaign and fundraiser to fight the disease in April 2007. The Goddard community raised $1845 for the Nothing But Nets campaign. Nothing But Nets is a grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. Every $10 purchases an anti-malarial bed net. Thank you for your generosity, and thank you to Mr. Lobb and Mr. Horton, who greeted our students in fishnets as a reward for the 7th grade for raising the most money. Channel One featured our efforts with a 15 second plug on the Friday May 11, 2007 broadcast.
We also do one project a year on a global level. In the past, we have raised money for the Heifer Project and to build schools in the Sudan. Listen to the announcements to find out when the next meeting will be held.
